How to apply for a regular visa

Citizens of South Korean visa-exempted countries do not need a visa for a stay of up to ninety days. However, you will need to bring your original passport valid for 6 months after the return date with at least one blank page.

Beyond 90 days, for any type of Visa (tourism, business, studies, etc.) you will need to complete a visa application form for South Korea, accompanied by the following documents:

  • Your original passport valid for at least 6 months at the time of filing the visa application.
  • A standard photo ID
  • The form completed by you and signed, on which an address and a telephone number in Korea must appear.
  • A photocopy of round trip air tickets or a certificate from your travel agency.
  • A certificate of your hotel reservation in Korea.
  • An extract from your criminal record.
  • A work certificate with the stamp and the signature of the company (as well as your last three payslips), or a certificate of education with the stamp and the signature of your educational establishment.

For a short business stay of up to 90 days, you will not need a visa to stay in South Korea, but you will need to have your original passport valid for 6 months after the return date with at least a blank page.

For a business trip going beyond 90 days , you will need to obtain a business visa and collect the following documents:

  • Your original passport valid for at least 6 months at the time of filing the visa application,
  • A standard photo ID,
  • The form completed by you and signed, on which an address and a telephone number in Korea must appear,
  • A certificate from your employer with the stamp and signature of your company, indicating your seniority and the position you currently hold,
  • A nominative invitation letter from Korea and in which your presence on site is requested,
  • A copy of the trade register of the Korean company that invites you (Certificate for Business Registration),
  • A contract with Korea (in case of short-term work visa),
  • A CV (for teachers and for religious),
  • An authorization from the Ministry of Culture in Korea and a contract with a Korean company (for artists).

As a student, you will need to obtain a student visa to study in Korea. For this you will need to collect the following documents:

  • Your original passport valid for at least 6 months at the time of filing the visa application.
  • A standard photo ID.
  • The form completed by you and signed, on which an address and a telephone number in Korea must appear.
  • An original of the document certifying your admission by the Korean university.
  • A certificate certified by the bank justifying that you are solvent to finance your studies and your life as a student during your stay on Korean territory.
  • A copy of your school certificate or your last diploma.

Work holiday visa

The Korean authorities’ issue the Working Holiday visa to young people aged 18 to 30 wishing to stay in Korea with the aim of spending holidays there with the possibility of working there in order to supplement the financial means with which they have.

This non-renewable multiple entry visa will be issued to them free of charge. The period of validity is one year maximum from the date of entry into Korean territory.

During their stay in Korea, holders of the Working Holiday visa are required to comply with the legislation in force in Korea, in particular the provisions relating to the exercise of remunerated activities as well as to immigration control.

They can neither extend their stay beyond one year, nor change their status during their stay.

Conditions for applying

  • Not having already benefited from this program.
  • Being between the ages of 18 and 30 on the date of filing the visa application.
  • Have the financial resources necessary to meet needs at the start of the stay (the minimum amount to justify is set at 2500 euros).
  • Applications are processed in the order of their deposit until the quota is used up.

Documents to be provided

  • A return air ticket or a certificate of purchase of the air ticket or a bank account statement justifying sufficient resources to buy a return air ticket
  • A medical certificate attesting to the good health of the (the) applicant
  • A document justifying the financial resources (2500 euros)
